There was never a point where music became Oliver’s world. Oliver came into a world filled with music. His father taught band and his mom taught choir at the school in Marietta, OK where Oliver was born. They took him to every concert, football game and competition and even on the road during summers with their gospel quartet! It made such an impact on him that he decided to become a teacher as well, but upon his first semester of college he discovered that he’d much rather play than teach, so he dropped out and started focusing on writing and playing music.

Oliver was influenced by so many different artists, but when he discovered the blues he went all in. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, The 3 Kings, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, Hubert Sumlin, Howlin Wolf and so many more blues guitarists and singers held a place deep in Oliver’s heart. He has also been influenced greatly more recently by artists such as Ian Moore, Doyle Bramhall II and Chris Whitley.

Oliver started a blues band called “Li’l Brother” in the mid 90’s and played dive bars, back yards and motorcycle rallies all over north Texas and southern Oklahoma. Li’l Brother started to take a back seat to another group that Oliver had been playing with. A gig came up, but the band was without a name. The decision was made to call themselves “The Oliver White Group” until they could think of something better…and they never did. The end. Just kidding.

In 2008 The Oliver White Group released their debut album, “Control”. The album featured Texas blues guitarists Lance Lopez and Wes Jeans and received wonderful reviews and was compared to Pink Floyd and Govt Mule. Then in 2018 The OWG released an EP called “#OWGSIDE2EP”, which showcased some of The OWG’s TX/OK roots as opposed to being a blues/rock album like the previous release. It’s a southern rock EP with a funk song at the end.

Oliver has shared the stage, either with The OWG or as a solo act, with The Bellamy Brothers, Buddy Miles, Hayes Carll, Ian Moore, Jimmy Vaughan, Pinetop Perkins and many other blues, rock and country legends.

Oliver is still traveling around in his world full of music and it keeps growing.
